A fundamental characteristic of Aluminum silicon alloy is its light weight. That’s good for airplanes and cars because lighter vehicles perform better. But despite being light, this alloy is very strong — strong enough to withstand a lot of pressure.
For that reason, aluminum bismuth alloy is commonly used to make airplane wings, car parts and some electronic components. It is also applied in medical device due to its safety and toxicological profiles.
Compared to other metal alloys, aluminum bismuth alloy has some unique properties. There are some other alloys that are lighter or stronger, etc… but not many will match how everything comes together in this alloy.
From the standpoint of weight, aluminum bismuth alloy is much lighter than steel, so would be better for airplanes and cars where the weight is a consideration. But it is stronger and more durable than pure aluminum, giving it a place in building materials and machine parts.
